چکیده
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired immune-mediated disorder of the peripheral nervous system. This clinically heterogeneous neurological closely related to Guillain–Barré syndrome and considered chronic counterpart that acute disease. Currently available treatments are mostly empirical; they include corticosteroids, intravenous immunoglobulins, plasma exchange immunosuppressive agents, either alone or in combination. Recent advances understanding underlying pathogenic mechanisms CIDP have brought a number novel ways possible intervention for use CIDP. review summarizes selected pre-clinical clinical findings, highlights importance using adapted animal models evaluate efficacy treatments, proposes outlines future directions ameliorate conditions patients with

Myeloma bone disease: pathogenesis, current treatments and future targets.
INTRODUCTION Patients with myeloma develop localized and generalized bone loss leading to hypercalcaemia, accelerated osteoporosis, vertebral wedge fractures, other pathological fractures, spinal cord compression and bone pain. Bone loss is mediated by a variety of biological modifiers including osteoclast-activating factors (OAF) and osteoblast (OB) inhibitory factors produced either directly ...
متن کاملHepatitis C virus therapies: current treatments, targets and future perspectives.
Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection is the cause of an emerging global epidemic of chronic liver disease. Current combination therapies are at best 80% efficacious and are often poorly tolerated. Strategies to improve the therapeutic response include the development of novel interferons, nucleoside analogues with reduced haemolysis compared with ribavirin and inosine 5'-monophosphate dehy...
متن کاملCell-specific mineralocorticoid receptors: future therapeutic targets for stroke?
The mineralocorticoid receptor (MR), well known to be expressed in renal epithelial cells where it is important in fluid and electrolyte ho-meostasis, has aldosterone as one of its main agonists. Much research in the last 10–15 years indicates that MRs are also expressed outside of the kidney, including in the brain, vasculature and heart, where they contribute to the pathophysiology of disease...

IBD ETIOLOGY AND PATHOGENESIS Infl ammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a collection of disorders characterized by idiopathic infl ammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Although primarily classifi ed as either ulcerative colitis (UC) or Crohn’s disease (CD), the presentation of IBD can vary in terms of clinical symptoms, including location of disease involvement, disease severity, age at diagnosis...
متن کاملPotassium channels as targets for therapeutic intervention.
The potassium channel superfamily presents a rich source of targets for therapeutic intervention. Indeed, the development of specific potassium channel modulators could lead to the effective treatment of various diseases for which current therapies are clearly suboptimal. Numerous factors play a role in determining whether the successful clinical development of such drugs can ever be achieved. ...
